Welcome to Target Practice! For those new readers, this is where we (Sara and Natalie) share our list of fitness, health and life goals, keeping us accountable and helping to achieve our weekly aspirations. Every type A girl (that’s us!) loves a good list – we hope you do too!
The idea is that we set specific targets for the week and then do our best to achieve them. We call it Target Practice because we think it’s super important to set intentions and goals while recognizing that we all fail sometimes (even us Type As) and that’s OK.
We hope you will join us in posting YOUR Target Practice each week!
Mornin’ ya’ll! Hope your weekend was fabulous. I’m gearing up for a busy week of running, yoga, work and then a wedding back home in Ft. Lauderdale.
Scenes from last week:
I’ve been following my half marathon training plan and was all ready to run 7 miles on Saturday until I woke up with pain in my upper left leg. I thought it was the very top of my quad, but a friend suggested that it may be my hip flexor. I decided to give it a rest and try again on Sunday and was so happy to wake up pain-free!
Like the smart lady I am, I did all of the wrong things leading up to my long run. 1. I took a yoga class that morning that was geared towards legs and butt which all but killed my quads. 2. I started running at noon when the sun is strongest and the weather is gross. 3. I drank the night before and didn’t hydrate (unless you count margaritas as hydration).
All of these things led to a hard, slow run but the important part is that I did it. I live in a big city with big city crime so I usually don’t run with music for safety reasons. But, I decided yesterday I was going to need an extra boost and I put together this playlist.
Target Practice – Week of September 9th, 2013
Health: I haven’t meditated since we moved and I’m really missing it. I need to take my own advice and carve out 5 minutes for me every day.
Fitness: Half marathon training is going great, but I haven’t been to a gym to lift weights in a looooong time. We’re planning to join a gym this week so we can get back to our normal lifting routine.
Life: Life is so great :). We have so much to do at the house but we’ve done a really good job not getting overwhelmed and taking things day by day. We installed a peep hole in our door last night and have some bathroom hardware to mount and then we need to get serious and start shopping for furniture.
